Friday Five

Hi y'all! I haven't done a Friday Five in a while, so why not today?:)

Let's do it! Here we go...

#5. Last five books I've read and loved:

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkowsi

Riders by Veronica Rossi
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
The Living by Matt De La Pena
Frozen Tides, by Morgan Rhodes

#4. Next five books on my TBR List (in no particular order):

The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye

A Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Mass
Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes
Need by Joelle Charbonneau
Wink, Poppy, Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke

Which should I read first?

#3. Five Cool Things You Might Not Know About The Nil series:

The Nil series has been translated into multiple languages, and Nil just sold to Columbia! Nil Unlocked recently released in Turkey...with more countries to follow.

Nil began in Hawaii--that's where the idea for Nil was born. See this post for more scoop.

NIL UNLOCKED incorporates some American history and science that is absolutely true. As for how it factors into the Nil world...well, I MADE THAT UP.;)

At the the end of NIL UNLOCKED, Skye has not let Nil go. OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND? Or is it both? Nil on Fire holds the answer....

I have a super cool announcement coming soon about Skye's uncle's journal... Stay tuned!

#2. Five Cool Things You Might Not Know About NIL ON FIRE:

In NIL ON FIRE, three of the four main characters return to Nil. NO  I CAN'T TELL YOU WHICH ONES. You have to read the book.:;)

The books starts with Paulo, picking up right where NIL UNLOCKED lefts off.

There are three points of view...and one of them belongs to Nil.

You meet new characters from Australia, Columbia, America, and more. Don't get attached... *spoiler alert* many of them die. BECAUSE IT'S NIL AND NIL ISN'T HAPPY.

NIL ON FIRE ends the series.

#1. Five Things I'm Stoked About for May:

Um, DUH. NIL ON FIRE!!!

NIL ON FIRE RELEASES IN 25 days!!!

IKR?! Can. Not. WAIT!

Because I'm so excited, I'm going to count the release of NOF as all five, because in my mind, it's five kinds of awesome.:) Don't forget to enter the pre-order contest to win cool stuff!

25 days!!!!!

Now, I'll leave you with this week's NOF teaser...

Happy Friday!

Shout out to Robin Mellom, author of DITCHED

Hey sweet YA readers!

YA contemporary is so hot right now, and so fun. Lots of great reads out there, like . . .

JUST ONE DAY by Gayle Forman
(and a sequel is coming soon!)

LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR by Stephanie Perkins
(companion novel to ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS . . . so good!)

BODY AND SOUL by Stacey Kade
(the finale of THE GHOST AND THE GOTH series--just love!)

But here's one you definitely shouldn't miss:

I know Robin personally (we actually went to high school together, can you believe it?!) and she's as sweet as she is talented. Crazy thing is, I read DITCHED (and LOVED it!) before I realized this Robin was the same Robin I went to high school with. It was that whole maiden-name-changed-to-married-name thing that threw me off.

So let me say it again--I LOVED THIS BOOK, even before I realized I loved the author.

Here's the blurb from Goodreads:

There's a girl.
Justina Griffith was never the girl who dreamed of going to prom. Designer dresses and strappy heels? Not her thing. That said, she never expected her best friend, Ian Clark, to ask her.

And there's a boy.
Ian, who always passed her the baseball bat, handle first.
Ian, who knew exactly when she needed red licorice.
Ian, who promised her the most amazing night at prom.

Then there's a ditch.
But when Justina is ditched, figuratively and literally, she must piece together--stain-by-stain on her thrift store dress--exactly how she ended up dateless...with only the help of some opinionated ladies at the 7-Eleven.

To get the whole store, Justina will have to face the boy who ditched her. Can losing out at her prom ultimately lead to finding true love?

Doesn't it sound amazing? *nods* It really is.:)

I'm over at the YA Valentine blog today getting the full scoop from Robin. Pop over if you can, find out Robin's favorite scene, and say hi.:)

Plus, if you've got middle-grade readers, Robin had a new MG book coming out next month from Disney-Hyperion! Woot!

Happy Tuesday y'all!

Summer Reads

August is here. Just--wow.

How did it get here so fast?! After July 4th, summer seems to kick into another (faster!) gear. The thing is, I love summer and everything it represents . . .  beach time, lazy days, late nights and *hopefully* equally late mornings. :) And fun stuff like this:

Lemonade with a firework straw FTW! LOL
And BOOKS.

For me, summer = beach + books. :)

This summer I've read some GREAT books. THE FOX INHERITANCE by Mary Pearson, RUBY RED by Kerstin Gier, SHADOW AND BONE by Leigh Bardugo, LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR by Stephanie Perkins, PARTIALS by Dan Wells, the PARANORMALCY trilogy by Kiersten White . . . just to name a few.

Today's Friday Read? FRACTURE by Megan Miranda. Yay! I've been looking forward to reading this book for a while and can't wait to dig in!

What are you reading? :) And what's been your favorite summer read? :)

(Note: Monday's Blog Post will be about What Boys Read. It appeared here *briefly* today before I accidentally deleted it as I closed tabs, and now I can't find it. Grr. After several deep breaths and fruitless Google cache searches, I'll either (a) find it or (b) recreate it on Sunday. Sigh. Some days the technology gods are unhappy with me. It happens. :) I think I'll have another lemonade. Want one? :) *shares*)
